Phrasal verbs are really important because we use them all the time, but it's not always clear what they mean. Today we're going to look at three ways that we use the phrasal verb clean up. Most commonly, we use clean up when we talk about making something clean and tidy. For example, if you have kids, you probably ask them all the time, 'Hey, can you please clean up your room?' I spilled coffee on my shirt, so I had to clean it up before the meeting. Clean up also means to make something more efficient or effective. For example, we need to clean up the website to make it more user-friendly. Thirdly, if someone or something cleans up, they dominate or win completely.
