"ABOVE BOARD" vs "ACROSS THE BOARD" - English Idioms Explained #shorts
Today we're looking at the idioms "above board" and "across the board." They can get confused because they sound pretty similar.
Now, if something is "above board," it's done in an honest way. According to the rules or the law.
Here are a few examples:
• The deal was completely open and above board.
• You know, we want people to be above board and to do things the right way.
• This has been the cleanest, most above board Oscar race in years.
Now if something is "across the board," it applies to everyone and everything equally.
Here are a few examples:
• The company announced a 5% pay cut across the board for all employees.
• And across the board, we should be working to make our power sources better.
• Rather than customize deals, we offer standard pricing across the board.
I hope that helps. Thanks for watching. See you next time!
