BE ON THE BALL? - English Idioms #shorts

I'm sorry folks, I'm not on the ball today. I didn't sleep very well last night. Today we're looking at the idiom, "be on the ball." So what do you think it means? If I tell you I'm not on the ball because I didn't sleep last night, do you think I'm going to be 100% efficient today? Am I going to be alert, attentive, aware of what's going on around me? Probably not, right? So if you're on the ball, you're going to be quick to react and understand things. Here are a few more examples to illustrate how it's used: • Sarah is always on the ball during meetings, taking notes and asking insightful questions. • It's really important to be on the ball when you're driving in traffic to avoid accidents. • The new general contractor that we have, I would have to say, is just phenomenal. He's on the ball with every little thing. • He wasn't on the ball today and he made a few mistakes during his presentation. So there you go. I hope you are on the ball today. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
